RUBIT EARNS SUN BELT PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

NEW ORLEANS – Following a career night at No. 20/16 Gonzaga, University of South Alabama senior Augustine Rubit has been named the Sun Belt Conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Rubit receives the award for the sixth time in his career, more than any other South Alabama player.

Saturday Rubit set a new career high with 35 points against the Bulldogs, garnering 23 in the second half alone. He shot 11-for-16 from the floor, made all three of his 3-point attempts and went a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line.

The three 3-pointers are also a new personal best and the 35 points are tied for the most by a Sun Belt player this season. It is his first 30-point performance of the season and sixth of his career.

Rubit's performance also earned him the national player of the week honor from StatSheet.com.
