Riley Announces Signing of Aaron Goldstein for 2026-27 season

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's basketball head coach Richie Riley announced the signing of Division II transfer guard Aaron Goldstein for the 2026–27 season Sunday night.

Goldstein, a 6-0, 165-pound guard from Staten Island, N.Y., joins the Jaguars after spending the past three seasons at the College of Staten Island. During the 2025–26 season, he turned in a dominant campaign, averaging 21.2 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field, finishing with a Division II single-season program record of 615 total points. He led the East Coast Conference in scoring and earned All-ECC First Team honors, while also being named a three-time ECC Player of the Week and a two-time MBWA DII/III Player of the Week. Goldstein added D2CCA East Region First Team recognition and was named to the Bevo Francis Top-100 Watch List.

"Aaron gives our team a toughness and swagger that is much needed," said Riley. "He possesses great speed and creativity on the offensive end. He's an elite shooter with range off the bounce or catch. Defensively, he will be pesky in our press and zone. Pumped to have him and his family officially with us."

He delivered one of the top single-game performances in program history with a 40-point outing at Tampa (Nov. 17) and surpassed the 1,000-career point milestone on Jan. 14 against STAC.

During the 2024–25 season, Goldstein averaged 12.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game, while also recording 45 steals (1.5 per game) and earning ECC Player of the Week honors.

As a freshman in 2023–24, Goldstein was named the ECC Rookie of the Year after earning four Rookie of the Week selections. He appeared in 29 games with 28 starts, averaging 10.0 points per game, including a season-high 23 points against Virginia Union, where he knocked down seven three-pointers.

Goldstein attended Xaverian High School and competed for both the basketball and baseball programs during his prep career.

Aaron is the first addition to the Jaguar program in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
