MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's basketball has added Canadian forward Owen Kenney to its roster for the 2026-27 season.
The 6-7 forward from Barrie, Ontario, is coming off a strong sophomore campaign with the Gee Gees, where he averaged 14.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, earning third-team All-Ontario University Athletics honors.
Kenney is an outstanding outside shooter, knocking down 39.4 percent from three-point range while showing the ability to heat up in a hurry. He connected on as many as seven three-pointers in a single game this past season, with 52 total threes made.
"Owen is a versatile wing that can score at all three levels," head coach Richie Riley said. "He will provide us with a 3-point shooting threat that plays with great IQ. I'm excited about his ability to be impactful as a wing in our zone. We're excited to welcome Owen and his family."
During his freshman season, Kenney appeared in all 22 regular-season games with five starts, averaging 8.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He also played in all six postseason contests, helping his team to a conference championship and a third consecutive U SPORTS bronze medal.
Following that season, he earned U SPORTS All-Rookie Team, OUA All-Rookie Team, and Rookie of the Year honors.
Kenney is the second addition to the Jaguar program in the 2026 recruiting cycle, joining transfer guard Aaron Goldstein, who signed earlier this month.
