RUBIT EARNS TWO PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA NODS

MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama men's basketball senior Augustine Rubit has picked up his first two preseason All-America selections of the 2013-14 season.

Rubit, a Houston, Texas native, was named to the Lou Henson Preseason All-America team and the College Sports Madness Preseason All-Mid Major team.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball. The award is named in honor of Lou Henson who retired after a spectacular coaching career that lasted 41 years.

A finalist last year for the award, Rubit is joined on the list by Louisiana-Lafayette's Elfrid Peyton.

CSM tabbed Rubit to its second team and named Montana's Kareem Jamar Player of the Year.

Rubit is the reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and averaged 19.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest last season. He is the first player in league history to lead the conference in rebounding three straight seasons and is 120 away from setting a new SBC career record.
