AUGUSTINE RUBIT EARNS NABC HONOR

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of South Alabama’s Augustine Rubit was rewarded for his outstanding season Wednesday by being named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 24 First Team.

Rubit, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, earns All-NABC plaudits for the second consecutive season. He was a second team selection in 2010-11.

A First Team All-Sun Belt honoree, Rubit averaged 15.2 points and a Sun Belt Conference-best 9.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 50.5 percent from the floor. His scoring average is currently second in the league and he is the first USA player since 1996 to lead the team in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage.

Rubit recorded a league-best 12 double-doubles last season, including a 31-point, 10-rebound performance against Alcorn State.

The Jaguars went 17-12 overall and finished second in the Sun Belt East Division.
