MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama’s
Ronnie Arrow has been elected the chair of the Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Committee in a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Arrow, who is in his 14th season in charge of the men’s basketball program, will serve a two-year term.
“Anytime you’re elected to do a job, especially by your peers in your profession, it is an honor,” Arrow said.
As the chair, Arrow will advise and make recommendations to the Senior Woman Administrator’s Committee, Athletic Director’s Committee and Sun Belt Commissioner Karl Benson on topics related to student-athlete welfare, sporting behavior, competition, scheduling and other matters affecting the competitive status of men’s basketball.
Arrow will also serve as a voting member of the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll. He has voted in the top 25 since the 2006-07 season.
“Voting on the poll is something I take very seriously,” Arrow said. “Some coaches might give it to their assistants; my assistants tell me who won, but other than that, putting it all together is something I do myself. It’s an honor to vote on the best teams in the country. It’s something the coaches take pride in.”
Arrow and the Jaguars open the 2012-13 season Nov. 9 at Florida State.
