JACKSON, Miss. –
Mychal Ammons, an incoming 2011-12 freshman for the University of South Alabama men’s basketball team, has been selected to play in the 2011 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star basketball game.
The game will take place Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Pelham Civic Complex in Pelham, Ala.
Ammons, the Mississippi state tournament Most Valuable Player, signed with the Jaguars in November. He averaged 21.8 points and 8.9 rebounds this season for Vicksburg (Miss.) High School and led the Gators to the 6A state championship game.
A 6-6 forward, Ammons was named to the
Clarion-Ledger (Miss.) Dandy Dozen and was ranked 32nd among small forwards by ESPN.com, 26th by Scout.com and received a three-star rating by Rivals.com before the season.
