USA MEN'S TENNIS HOSTS FAMU SUNDAY

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men’s tennis team continues their homestand Sunday when they host Florida A&M University at the Mobile Tennis Center at 1 p.m.

The match, originally scheduled to take place on the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts on USA’s campus, was moved to courts 13-18 at the Tennis Center due to court resurfacing.

“Having a fast start will be the key,” said USA head coach Nick Brochu. “Last year we started very strong, took the doubles point fast and took the early lead in singles. We were able to comfortably finish the match dropping only one singles point. FAMU is a very explosive team. We need to match their intensity and remind them we are playing at home.”

USA took on the Rattlers last spring in Mobile, Ala. beating them 6-1. The Jaguars lead the all-time series with Rattlers 6-0.

The Jags enter Sunday’s match undefeated after downing Nicholls 6-1 at home in their spring opener.

“Last match we had a slow start in singles,” said Brochu. “We need to fix that because matches will only get tougher as the season goes on. We can’t afford to always play catch up.”

FAMU is 1-2 so far this season. After dropping their first two matches to North Florida and South Florida the Rattlers beat Florida Gulf Coast 6-1.

Admission to all home matches is free. Match results can be accessed at www.usajaguars.com.
