OPENING TIP
South Alabama won the last time it faced a ranked opponent, defeating No. 18/18 Florida 67-66 on Dec. 22, 2009 in Gainesville.

USA is 2-11 all-time against current members of the ACC. The Jags are 2-9 against Florida State and 0-1 each vs. Virginia Tech (1983-84) and Clemson (1984-85). Ten of the 11 meetings against FSU came before the school joined the league. USA last played an ACC member Dec. 16, 2004 at Florida State.

Sophomore Augustine Rubit recorded his 15th career double-double Wednesday with 18 points and 14 rebounds. He had 10 points and 11 rebounds in the second half alone. A career-high 10 of his 18 points came via the free throw line (on 12 attempts).

In another strong second-half performance Wednesday, junior Xavier Roberson tallied 11 points after intermission en route to a career-high 17 points. Roberson led the charge in USA’s comeback win by going a perfect 5-for-5 at the charity stripe.

One game after getting out-muscled on the boards at Mississippi State, the Jaguars won the rebounding battle against Mobile 46-24. South Alabama grabbed 18 offensive boards to Mobile’s 17 defensive rebounds. The 18 offensive rebounds led to 19 second-chance points. UM had just two second-chance points.

Junior Trey Anderson dished out a career-best seven assists Wednesday, which ties the most any USA player had in all of the 2010-11 season.

Junior Freddie Goldstein has accounted for four of the team’s seven 3-pointers.

FSU’s Bernard James is tied for the ACC lead in field goal percentage, making 15 of his 20 attempts (75.0%). Deividas Dulkys is 8-for-15 (53.3%) from 3-point land, seventh in the ACC in 3-point percentage, and tied for third in 3s per game. The Seminoles as a team are fourth, shooting 50.9 percent per game.
