USA SOCCER FALLS 2-1 AT MOREHEAD STATE

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision against Morehead State Friday night in Morehead, KY.

Brandi Smith broke free past the defense to score an unassisted goal in the 16th minute to give the Jags a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles (3-5) evened the score in the 51st minute when Giuleana Lopez scored unassisted.

Erin Adams sealed the victory for MSU when she scored in the 84th minute.

“I saw some good things out there tonight but we gave up a goal in the last five minutes of play,” USA head coach Mike Varga said. “We need to regroup, and come out strong against Kentucky on Sunday.

USA (2-5-1) was outshot by the Eagles 13-3, while goalkeeper Melissa Drish had five saves in the contest.

South Alabama returns to action Sunday afternoon in Lexington, KY. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
