MOBILE, Ala. –University of South Alabama soccer earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for 2010, as announced Wednesday by the NSCAA office.
To qualify for the award, a team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 for the 2009-10 academic year. Wednesday’s announcement marks the fourth consecutive year the Jaguars have earned this award, and the eighth time in the past nine seasons.
“The Team Academic Award is a team goal every year,” USA head coach Mike Varga said. “I am proud that we were able to achieve our academic goal for the team once again. I have been fortunate to have student-athletes that are focused on their studies and represent the soccer program, the University and themselves very well.”
A total of four Sun Belt Conference teams received this award.
