JAG SOCCER SHUTS OUT WESTERN KENTUCKY, 2-0

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kasey Crowe and Natalie Parsons led the University of South Alabama soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Western Kentucky Sunday afternoon in Sun Belt conference action in Bowling Green, Ky.

“We started out slow but it was a good win for us,” USA head coach Mike Varga said. “We made some adjustments at the half, and we came out and played Western tough until the end of the match. I am proud of the team for hanging in there and fighting for 90 minutes.”

USA’s (5-13-1, 3-7) Crowe scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season from the top of the box in the 84th minute on an assist from Kristyn Thacker.

Parsons evened the score in the 88th minute on an assist from Tatum Perry.

WKU (7-2-0, 6-4) outshot the Jags 14-9 in the contest, and held a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal.

Jaguar freshman goalkeeper Melissa Drish had 10 saves in her second shutout of the season.

USA returns to SBC action Friday when it hosts Troy at 7 p.m. at The Cage. Two seniors will be honored during a pregame ceremony as a part of Senior Night.
