SOCCER FALLS TO WESTERN KENTUCKY, 2-0

MOBILE, Ala. - University of South Alabama soccer fell to Western Kentucky, 2-0, Friday night in Sun Belt Conference action at "The Cage."

Western (7-3-1, 2-1-0) broke a scoreless tie in the 41st minute to carry a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Hilltoppers doubled their lead with the final goal of the match in the 51st minute.

"I think we went into the game with the wrong mentality," USA head coach Mike Varga said. "We had eight players at practice this week, because of the flu and sickness. I told the team I didn't want that to be an excuse or used as a crutch. We just didn't do the little things we needed to do to be successful today."

USA (2-8-1, 0-2-1) returns to SBC action Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. match against Middle Tennessee at "The Cage."
