JAGUAR SOCCER HOSTS UALR ON SUNDAY IN CONFERENCE MATCHUP

MOBILE, Ala. ? The University of South Alabama soccer team will host UALR in a Sun Belt Conference matchup on Sunday, Sept. 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at “The Cage.”

 

USA (3-6, 1-0) will look to win back-to-back games for the first time this season and remain undefeated in conference play. The Jags defeated Arkansas State University 3-2 in their conference-opener Friday night in Mobile.

 

The Jags are 9-4 all-time against UALR, and have recorded shutouts in eight of those nine wins. The Trojans won last season’s contest 2-0 in Little Rock.

 

South Alabama is 6-2 all-time at home against UALR. The Jags have recorded shutouts in four of their six wins against the Trojans at home (1994, 2000, 2005 and 2006). The Trojans have not won in Mobile since 2003, when they defeated South Alabama 2-1.

 

UALR (5-4-1, 1-0) is led by midfielder Grace Rich, who has scored seven goals for the Trojans this season. She scored the Trojans’ only goal in their 1-0 conference-opening win over Troy on Friday.

 

UALR goalkeeper Jane Picarelli has recorded three shutouts this season, with two coming at home, and one on Friday against Troy. In five road games this season, she has allowed a total of seven goals. The Trojans have a record of 2-2-1 in those games.

 

Picarelli leads the Sun Belt Conference in saves with 57 heading into the weekend for an average of 5.70 saves per game.

 

South Alabama has outscored UALR 26-13 in the all-time series.
