SOUTH ALABAMA SOCCER CLOSES ROAD TRIP SUNDAY AT FLORIDA ATLANTIC

MOBILE, Ala. ? The Jaguar soccer team returns to action Sunday in a Sun Belt Conference contest against Florida Atlantic University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. (EST) in Boca Raton, Fla.

 

USA enters Sunday’s match 4-9-4-2 overall and 2-3-2 in the SBC, following Friday’s 4-1 loss at Florida International.

 

The Jags are 1-2-1 all-time against FAU. Last season’s meeting between the schools ended in a 1-1 tie in double overtime. USA has not defeated the Owls since 1994, when the Jags won 4-3 in overtime in Deland, Fla.

 

FAU enters the contest 4-8-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the SBC after defeating Troy 4-1 Friday. The Owls have won three consecutive games entering Sunday's matchup, after wins over Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana-Lafayette and Troy.

 

Florida Atlantic is led by junior forward Ashley Mannarino who shares the team-lead with three goals. Two of her three goals this season have been game-winners.

 

The Owls are 2-3-1 overall at home, and 1-1-1 in SBC home matches.

 

FAU currently ranks 11th in the SBC in goals (11) and goals per game (0.92). They are sixth in the conference in goals allowed (21) and eighth in the SBC in goals against average (1.62).
