LEXINGTON, Ky. – South Alabama Track & Field wrapped up competition at the NCAA East First Round with several strong performances from its remaining athletes at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
Three Jaguar women highlighted Thursday's action by significantly outperforming their qualifying positions, though each fell short of advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Iyana Johnson opened the day in the hammer throw, placing 20th overall with a mark of 60.19 meters. The finish marked a 12-place improvement from her No. 32 regional ranking entering the meet.
In the women's javelin, Ava Grace Wheaton delivered a strong performance, recording a throw of 47.34 meters to place 23rd overall. Wheaton improved 23 spots from her qualifying position, entering the East First Round ranked 46th.
Dianna Goodman closed out Thursday's competition in the pole vault, clearing 4.07 meters (13-4¼) to finish tied for 29th. Goodman climbed 16 spots from her No. 45 qualifying ranking.
Jonathan Henderson represented the Jaguars on Friday in the men's high jump, clearing 2.11 meters (6-11) to finish tied for 17th overall.

Reuben Booysen will be the lone Jaguar advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The two-time Sun Belt champion will compete in the men's javelin on Wednesday, June 10, at 4:15 p.m. CT at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
