MOBILE, Ala. – 11 South Alabama Track & Field athletes have qualified for the 2026 NCAA East First Round, set for May 27-30 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.
The Jaguars qualified athletes across multiple events on both the men's and women's sides after posting top-48 marks in the NCAA East Region throughout the outdoor season.
South Alabama's qualifiers are highlighted by two-time Sun Belt javelin champion Reuben Booysen, who enters the postseason following another standout campaign in the men's javelin. The Jaguars will also be represented in the men's pole vault by Terek Logan, Will Frederick, and Grayson Venezia after strong performances throughout the spring.
Jonathan Henderson earned a spot in the high jump after clearing 2.15m earlier this season, while freshman Nieko Garnes qualified in the men's 400-meter hurdles following a season-best 51.29 at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships. Samuel Mika also punched his ticket to the NCAA East First Round in the hammer throw.
On the women's side, Dianna Goodman earned qualification after a dominant season in the pole vault, while Ava Grace Wheaton (javelin) and Iyana Johnson (hammer throw) secured spots in the throws.
The NCAA East First Round will be hosted at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex. Athletes who finish among the top qualifiers in their respective events will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
