Wright, Puckett Receive Second Team All-Conference Honors

NEW ORLEANS - South Alabama infielders Brennon Wright and Stewart Puckett earned Second Team All-Sun Belt honors at their respective positions when the Sun Belt Conference released its postseason awards on Monday afternoon.

Wright has led the Jaguars in batting average (.351) and hits (73, 7th SBC) all season long with 21 multi-hit games, and has started all 54 games in the lead-off spot in the lineup playing second base. From opening day (Feb. 13) to March 5, Wright was top-5 in the nation in three offensive categories: 24 hits (4th nationally, led SBC), .511 batting average (5th nationally, led SBC), .623 OBP (5th nationally, 2nd SBC). Notably tagged four hits and five RBI in the series opener hosting ODU (March 27) and two other four hit games earlier in the season (West Ga., 2/28 & UAB March 3). The Starkville, Miss. native led everyday players on the team in OBP (.458) which also ranks him 7th among Sun Belt Conference players.

Puckett, the Jaguar three-hole hitter and third baseman collected 22 extra-base hits over the course of the 2026 season with 11 doubles, two triples and nine homers alongside a .305 batting average (.317 in SBC play). The redshirt junior tallied a .625 slugging percentage in conference play which landed him seventh among Sun Belt individuals. Notably tied the game versus Alabama with a two-out, bases loaded single in the seventh the Jags would go on to win as part of a three hit night with two-RBI against the Tide (March 17). The DeLeon Springs, Fla. native collected a career-high four hits and four RBI in game two at then-No. 14 Coastal with a first inning homer, which would spark the Jags to snap the Chants' near year-long conference win streak in the 15-2 victory (Apr. 3). He recorded his first-career multi-HR game in the finale hosting then-No. 18 Southern Miss when his second round tripper of the day was the go-ahead homer in the eighth to give the Jags a one-run lead they would hang onto.

Both first-year Jaguars, Wright had spent two seasons at Meridian Community College before transferring to South Alabama, while Puckett spent three seasons at South Florida that included a redshirt season.
