South Alabama Travels to Charleston to Take On Cougars in Weekend Series

CHARLESTON, S.C. - South Alabama takes a trip to Charleston to matchup against the Cougars in a three-game series.

Friday afternoon will see the series opener, slated for a 3:00 p.m. (CT) first pitch. Saturday's contest marks 1:00 p.m. (CT) start, while the series finale is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. (CT).

SERIES HISTORY
The two programs have a short history with only six games between them, and have not met in over a decade. The Cougars lead the all-time series five games to one, with the last match-up falling the way of Charleston in the rubber match by a 2-3 final score on March 3, 2013 in Charleston, S.C.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
The Cougars opened the 2026 season dropping three games in a four-game set at home against Rutgers, but topped Sun Belt Conference foe No. 6 Coastal Carolina on Tuesday night by a score of 4-3 in Conway, S.C. Prior to the first five games of this season, Charleston finished the 2025 campaign with a record of 37-22 (15-12 CAA), which landed them in third place in the regular season in the Coastal Athletic Association.

  • Mike Young and Duncan Mathews both have three round trippers in just four games to start the season while Paxton Bigby (2), and Blake Guerin (1) add to the total.
