NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced the selection of South Alabama's
Delien Kleinhans (Women's Tennis) as one of the league's two nominees for the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year award. The recognition was announced on Monday afternoon.
The NCAA Woman of the Year Program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletic excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions.
During her time in Mobile, Kleinhans was a four-year letterwinner for Jaguar Women's Tennis. In her senior season, she went 10-5 in singles and 14-5 in doubles, paving the way to earn a spot on the All-Sun Belt Second Team in doubles.
Kleinhans also competed as the No. 1 player for her native country, South Africa, at the 2025 FISU World University Games in Germany.
Off the court, Kleinhans recorded a 4.0 cumulative grade point average and was one of the eight recipients of the Sun Belt's 2025 Postgraduate Scholarship. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and plans to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy. Kleinhans was also recognized as a 2025 Academic All-District honoree by College Sports Communicators.
Kleinshans was also an active member of the Mobile community by volunteering at local shelters, assisting fellow students during move-in events, supporting the athletic department's annual toy drives and participating in JagPantry to stock and deliver food during the holidays.
In addition to the Sun Belt's final nominees, five other student-athletes were nominated by member institutions. The award's recipient will be announced this fall.
