Women’s Tennis Preview: Sun Belt Quarterfinals

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama women's tennis (11-6) will compete in the Sun Belt Championship Quarterfinals on Friday in Rome, Ga. The #2 Jags will either face #7 Louisiana (13-5) or #10 Marshall (12-10).

WHAT TO KNOW:
  • South Alabama earned a two-round bye after going 11-6 in the regular season, including a 10-0 start.
  • All Jags boast a minimum .500 record in singles. Jade Marie leads the squad with an 11-2 mark.
  • Elakili/Ennaciri are on a three-match winning streak at No. 2, recently ousting Cooks/Roesch of Texas State, 7-5 (4/11).
  • The Jaguars seek their first victory in the Sun Belt Tournament since 2024, when they beat Coastal Carolina 4-0 before falling to Old Dominion in the semifinals. The Monarchs would move on to clinch the tournament title.
  • South is 40-5 against Louisiana and 4-5 against Marshall. The Herd and the Cajuns will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday (4/23) to decide who will advance to the quarterfinals.
