MOBILE, Ala. –
Ava Rath of South Alabama women's tennis was named a recipient of the Alabama Broadcasters Association (ABA) Endowed Scholarship.
Rath, a junior from Tuscaloosa, Ala., boasts a 3.60 GPA in Broadcast Journalism. Additionally, she appeared in 12 matches this season while going 1-0 at position six in singles.
Dr. George Bovenizer, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication, noted the following: "Ava is a star student. Her GPA is excellent, and her performance in our broadcast classes has been simply fantastic. I firmly believe that she is going to be a high-level sports journalist once she graduates."
The ABA established the scholarship in 2020 to support students pursuing degrees in radio or television. For over 65 years, the ABA has been the official voice of the broadcasting industry in Alabama and affiliated with the National Association of Broadcasters.
