DESTIN, Fla. - South Alabama men's golf wrapped up its second tournament of the fall slate with a fifth place finish in a field of 13 teams at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic on Wednesday, led by a sixth-place individual finish from senior Hugo Thyr (-7).

The Jaguars started strong in round one with a team score of 277 (-7), and carded a total score of 840 (-12) to finish the tournament. Moving day proved to be the most impactful with West Florida firing a single round tournament-low 11-under-par team score, and eventual champion Middle Tennessee marking their low round of 8-under.

Strengths on the course:
"Like last event, we had a lot of very good golf throughout the tournament. Our high score for the week was 73 which is pretty competitive and certainly reflects the depth of this team. We were just missing a really low round which would've put us in a better position. Today, we started off slowly and got over par early, but to their credit they continued to compete and played very well the last six or seven holes when the conditions got tougher to move up the leaderboard and pass some teams."

Improvements in preparation for the Trinity Forest Invitational:
"Moving forward, we will continue to focus on our wedge play and scoring area. We will also put specific emphasis on individual guys as we prepare for SMU."
