ATHENS, Ga. - First Team All-Conference recipient Hugo Thyr preps to tee-it-up at the NCAA Athens Regional hosted by Georgia, with the opening round set for Monday morning (May 18).

The Athens Regional marks the second consecutive season Thyr received an at-large bid, as he'd advanced to his first two regional appearances as a freshman and sophomore by way of being crowned back-to-back Sun Belt Championships individual champion. Thyr is just one of two Sun Belt golfers to ever win the tournament twice (Alan Schulte, ODU 1984-85).

The senior will be the only Jaguar in program history to make four regional appearances after he fired a program record 69.83 stroke average over the course of the 2025-26 season.

Thyr's regional opening round start time is set for 9:34 a.m., paired with fellow Sun Belt member and Ragin' Cajun Malan Potgieter. Both players had competed at last season's NCAA Tallahassee Regional in spring 2025 as well. Howard University's Bear Huff will round out the threesome as the group will start off the first tee at UGA Golf Course.

Thyr made his first regional appearance as a freshman where he placed T-23 at the 2023 NCAA Auburn Regional. His sophomore appearance marked a T-58 finish at the 2024 NCAA Baton Rouge Regional, while his previous appearance as a junior landed T-35 at the 2025 NCAA Tallahassee Regional.
