HARRISONBURG, Va. – The South Alabama Track & Field program wrapped up Day Two of competition at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships with both the men's and women's teams sitting in the top three heading into the final day.
South Alabama women's team currently holds second place with 52 points, trailing Texas State (60) and narrowly leading Arkansas State (50). On the men's side, the Jaguars are tied for second with Appalachian State at 55 points, just behind Arkansas State, which leads with 57.
The Jaguars' lone All-Conference performer of the day came in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, where Sacha Perrier delivered a silver-medal performance and set a new personal best at a 8:59.51. This marks the seventh podium finish of his standout career.
In the women's shot put, Flora Dupans and Dawson Wright earned vital points for South Alabama. Dupans placed fifth with a season-best throw of 14.39 meters (47-2 ½), while Wright achieved a personal best of 13.93 meters (45-8 ½) to finish seventh.
In the men's pole vault, Will Frederick and Terek Logan notched significant personal records. Frederick cleared 5.28 meters (17-3 ¾) for fifth place, and Logan followed with a 5.18-meter (17-0) clearance to claim sixth.
Samuel Warriner closed the decathlon with 6,700 points and a fourth-place overall finish. His top individual performance came in the high jump, where he cleared 1.95 meters (6-4 ¾) to earn second place in the event.
On the track, five Jaguars qualified for finals in their respective events. Javon Glen clocked 21.27 in the 200 meters to finish second in his heat. He also secured second in the 400 meters with a time of 47.35, while Marlon Miller posted a 48.28 to place seventh and earn a spot in the finals.
In the hurdles, Allie Germann secured the final qualifying spot in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.88. Jadon Thomason recorded the fifth-fastest time in the men's 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.01 to move on to Saturday's final.
Jordan Morrison advanced to the men's 800-meter final with the fourth-fastest qualifying time of 1:51.70.
The final day of competition begins at Noon CT with the men's triple jump and concludes with the men's 4x400-meter relay.
