With regional competition scheduled for May 28–31 in Jacksonville, Florida, and several conference championships still to be held, six schools from the Sun Belt Conference will gather in Mobile for the one-day event. Competing teams include South Alabama, Arkansas State, Louisiana, Southern Miss, Troy and ULM.
South Alabama had a strong showing at the Sun Belt Championships last weekend, earning two individual men's titles and 14 All-Conference honors. Kendal White won the 400-meter hurdles, setting a school record, while Reuben Booysen claimed the javelin title with a top mark on his only attempt.
The top 48 athletes in each event in the East region qualify for the NCAA First Round. Several South Alabama athletes currently rank near the cutoff and will look to improve their standing at the meet.
15 Jaguar athletes are set to compete in Last Chance Meet. Freshman Terek Logan is ranked 45th in the pole vault with a top clearance of 5.18 meters (17 feet). Ava Wheatos holds the 40th-best mark in the javelin at 46.66 meters (153 feet, 1 inch), while Flora Dupans ranks 45th in the shot put with a throw of 50.34 meters (165 feet, 2 inches). Kayden Engel is currently 43rd in the high jump with a mark of 1.74 meters (5 feet, 8 ½ inches).
