MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Track & Field is looking to defend its conference championship on the men's side as the 2025 Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championships get underway Thursday at the Sentara Park in Harrisonburg, Va.

The competition opens Thursday at 11:30 a.m. CT with the multi-events. South Alabama freshman Samuel Warriner enters his first outdoor championship ranked fourth in the decathlon with 6,734 points. On the women's side, Calli Stokes is ranked third in the heptathlon with 4,927 points, followed closely by Megan Hamilton-Strong in fourth with 4,786.
South Alabama is expected to contend in several individual events on both the men's and women's sides.
Reuben Booysen leads the Sun Belt in the Javelin with a school-record throw of 72.45 meters (237 feet, 8 inches), nearly 21 feet ahead of the next closest competitor. Jackson Laughlin and Dylan Hale are ranked in the Top Five and will look to provide points in the Javelin for the Jaguars. Kendal White owns the second-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles this season with a 47.65. Sacha Perrier ranks second in the 5,000 meters (14:03.03) and fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:10.87). Samuel Mika is ranked third in the hammer throw with a Top toss of 59.29 meters. Freshman Jadon Thomason holds the fourth-best time in the 110-meter hurdles at 13.94.
On the women's side, Dianna Goodman ranks second in the conference in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.01 meters. Alexis Gratia is close behind in seventh with a clearance of 3.80 meters (12'5.5"). Flora Dupans is second in the discus at 50.34 meters (165 feet, 2 inches) and seventh in the shot put at 14.16 meters (46-5.5). Charleen Elizondo is currently in third in the 10,000 meters with a top time of 35:23.43. Iyana Johnson enters the meet ranked third in the hammer throw (59.78 meters) and sixth in the triple jump (12.16 meters).
The Jaguars will look to build on their success from last season with a mix of returning scorers and rising newcomers.
