MOBILE, Ala. | The South Alabama women's golf team will close out the regular season on the road at the Boilermaker Spring Classic hosted by Purdue, at the Ackerman-Allen Course located at the Brick Boilermaker Golf Complex.
The two-day, 54-hole event will get underway on Monday morning with an 8 a.m. (CT) shotgun start on the par 72, 6,211-yard course. Final round action will start on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. (CT) with a shotgun start as well. Live scoring link for each round will be available on USAJaguars.com.
Along with the Jags and host Boilermakers, the 16-team field includes Akron, Bradley, Butler, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Illinois State, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Princeton, Tennessee Tech and Toledo.
South Alabama will be paired with Cincinnati, Denver and Illinois State, and tee off on holes 6-10 in the opening round.
Scheduled to compete for the Jaguars are
Katharina Schroll (No. 1),
Mercedes Aldana (No. 2),
Cassidy Lambert (No. 3),
Anna Behnsen (No. 4) and
Flavia Tamburlini (No. 5).
Jaguar scoring averages entering the tournament: Schroll (72.5), Aldana (72.8), Lambert (74.9), Behnsen (75.3), and Tamburlini (77.5).
Schroll has led the Jaguars so far this season by firing a team-best nine rounds at par or under, as well as four rounds under 70. She has also tallied a total of 61 birdies, which is the most by a Jag. Aldana has recorded five rounds under par with a low of 69, while Behnsen has four rounds under 70.
Behnsen also has 44 birdies and an eagle on the year, while Aldana follows close behind with 42 birdies and an eagle. Lambert looks to continue her momentum after finishing the Pinetree Intercollegiate five under par in her last two rounds.
Tamburlini will be playing in her third consecutive event this Spring after placing T-12th at the Bama Beach Bash on March 16th – 18th and shooting three rounds in the 70s at the Pinetree Intercollegiate.
As a team, South Alabama finished inside the top four in six of its seven team events and is averaging 293.7 strokes per round.
