MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Men's Tennis student-athletes
Javier Montoya and
Braden Hannig received All-Sun Belt Conference honors when the league released its All-Conference teams Thursday morning.
Montoya was received Singles First Team All-Conference recognition while Hannig earned Singles Second Team All-Conference honors. Together, the duo was also recognized for their doubles play with a spot on the Doubles Second Team All-Conference squad.
Montoya, a senior from Madrid, Spain, was the only No. 1 singles player in the conference to go undefeated in league play this season (3-0). Montoya played all 14 of his singles matches at the No. 1 spot and compiled an overall record of 8-6 for the year. He was also a two-time Sun Belt Player of the Week during the 2025 campaign.
Hannig played 13 of his 15 singles matches this season at the No. 2 spot, where he went 7-6. Overall, Hannig compiled a record of 8-7 in singles in 2025. The Tuscaloosa native went a perfect 4-0 in singles in Sun Belt Conference play, and ended the season on a three-match winning streak.
As a doubles pair, Montoya and Hannig went 8-6 for the year, including a 3-3 record in Sun Belt Conference matches. The pair went 5-3 at the No. 1 doubles position and 3-3 in the No. 2 spot.
Montoya, Hannig and the rest of the Jaguars will square off against Coastal Carolina in the quarterfinal round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Friday, April 18 at 1 p.m. CT. A win would advance the Jags to the semifinals on Saturday.
