MOBILE, Ala. - South Alabama coming off a midweek bye will look to win their second conference series in a row.
The Jags won their first conference series of the season last weekend, taking Friday's game, and the first game of Saturday's doubleheader to clinch the series.Â

SERIES HISTORY
Having played 111 total times, Arkansas is South Alabama's sixth most-played opponent in program history. After joining the Sun Belt in 1991, South Alabama and Arkansas State first played in 1993 and have every year since with the exception of 2020 and 2021. All-time, South Alabama is 76-35 against ASU, but over the last 10 meetings it has been an even 5-5. While South Alabama took the latest series between the two programs, the last time the Jaguars have won a series in Jonesboro was 2017.
SCOUTING THE RED WOLVES
A team of ups and downs, Arkansas State has won three weekend series', against Arkansas Pine-Bluff, Marshall, and ULM. Notable midweek results came against Memphis, a split series with Central Arkansas, a loss in 10 innings at Ole Miss, and a loss on Tuesday to Arkansas. Last week, the Red Wolves went 1-3, with one win at Coastal Carolina on Sunday after dropping the first two games.
HOME RUNS FOR EVERYONE
In South Alabama's series victory over Georgia Southern, the Jags struck seven home runs by five different players in the first two games.
Ethan Melton broke off his first homer of the season then returned the next day for his second, followed by
Kyle Morrison who hit his seventh Friday night then his eighth on Saturday.
Josh Stevenson ended Friday night with a bang swinging for his first shot of the year. Junior
John Smith III launched his fourth home run of the season in his first plate appearance on Saturday, then was followed up by
Brennan Holt knocking a three-RBI home run in the second inning to blow the game open win the eventual 18-6 win.
