NEW ORLEANS | South Alabama women's golfer Katharina Schroll was named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the second time this season as announced by the league office on Thursday.

The honor marks the second time in the last three weeks that the freshman has been named the league's top golfer as she also received it on March 13. It is also the third time this season that a South Alabama women's golfer to earn the accolade this season (Mercedes Aldana, 2/6/25). Schroll is the seventh women's golfer in program history to earn the conference's weekly honor and the 12th overall selection. Three other players have also been named the SBC Golfer of the Month.

Schroll becomes just the second player in program history to earn the weekly honor multiple times during a season, joining Julie Hovland (9/20/18 and 3/28/19). The three selections also mark the second time in program history, and first since 2018-19, that the Jags have received the individual honor three times in a season (Hovland's two selections, and Siti Shaari, 11/1/18).

Her two career selections trail just Sharri (4), and along with Sharri, Schroll joins just two other players (Hovland and Elin Andersson) to have been named the top individual player (weekly or monthly) during a season multiple time

The freshman golfer finished one-over-par with a three-round 214 (71-71-72) to tie with Texas Tech's Klara Hurtova (214) for first place, and lead South Alabama to a second-place finish this past week at the Pinetree Intercollegiate held at the Pinetree Intercollegiate held at the Pinetree Country Club.

With the second-place finish, the Jaguars finished ahead of nationally ranked Notre Dame (No. 84) and just four shots back of No. 66 Texas Tech. 

The first-place finish marked the highest this season for Schroll, and she has now finished par or better 11 times this season with the two 71's. Schroll tied for fifth at the event in par-four scoring (4.11) and tied for third in par-five scoring (4.75) as she was three-under on the latter. Schroll also tied for the most pars at the tournament with two other players with 37, and her and Cassidy Lambert also led the club with nine birdies. Schroll now has a team-best 70 this season.

South Alabama will return to action in two weeks with its final regular-season tournament at the Boilermaker Spring Classic hosted by Purdue at the Kampen-Cosler Course in West Lafayette, Ind., April 6 through April 7.
