Jags Bested by Middle Tennessee

Box Score MURFREESBORO, Tenn.  – South Alabama Men's Tennis wrapped up its weekend in Tennessee Sunday afternoon by falling to Middle Tennessee, 4-0.

The Jaguars fell to 3-9 for the year in defeat.

"Today was hard," said head coach Nick Brochu. "Not only was it our third day in a row of playing matches, but we had two players with food poisoning. As a team you still try to fight, but when you know you have two important players down, it kind of weighs on you. We knew we needed a fast start, and doubles was very competitive. We're starting to really play good in doubles, but it didn't go our way. We started well in singles, but when we dropped a few first sets, the intensity started to go down. Today, the odds were just not in our favor."

After dropping a tightly-contested doubles point, South Alabama fought hard in the first set of every singles match, but could not keep up the same level of play after dropping each first set. Harold van Raemdonck's match was the tightest, but he ultimately lost his first set 7-5 before dropping the match.

South Alabama's road swing will continue with a trip to the state of Florida next. The Jags will challenge Miami on Tuesday, March 4 before taking on Florida Atlantic on Thursday, March 6.
