MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's basketball (2-0) continues its homestand on Saturday, Nov. 8, welcoming crosstown rival Spring Hill to the Mitchell Center for a 3 p.m. tipoff on ESPN+.

Last Time Out

Senior forward Peyton Law powered the Jaguars' offense in Monday's home opener, scoring 29 points on an incredible 13-of-15 shooting while adding nine rebounds and two steals. Jayden Cooper followed with a Division I career-high 22 points and a team-high three triples, while Chaze Harris tallied nine points and seven assists—marking his second consecutive game with seven dimes.

The Jaguars shot 52.8 percent from the field, their second game above 50 percent this season, and dominated the paint once again with a 48–24 scoring edge inside.

After committing 13 first-half turnovers and trailing by as many as 13 (34–21), South Alabama surged back, outscoring Alcorn State by 12 in the second half and closing the game on a 7–0 run to secure a 76–70 victory. Law delivered the go-ahead and-one putback in the final minute, and Adam Olsen iced the game with four clutch free throws.

Scouting the Badgers

Saturday marks the season opener for Division II foe Spring Hill, led by eighth-year head coach Craig Kennedy (59–114). The Badgers return top scorer Rocco Lamuno, who averaged 7.5 points per game last season, while Colin Coates is expected to step into a larger role after appearing in six games a year ago.

South Alabama holds a commanding 24–3 record against Spring Hill and enters Saturday on a 20-game win streak over the Badgers.

Notes You Need to Know

• Peyton Law has been dominant through the first two outings, averaging 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He ranks 21st nationally in field goal percentage (88.0%) and sits among the Top 50 scorers in the country. Law also leads the nation in total field goals made (22-of-25) and has grabbed more offensive rebounds (4.0) than defensive boards (3.5).

•  South Alabama has controlled the paint in all three contests this season (including the exhibition), outscoring opponents 186–90 inside.

• The Jags lead the Sun Belt in field goal percentage (54.1%), doing most of their damage inside while attempting just 31 three-pointers (11 made) through two games.

• South's starting five has accounted for nearly all of the team's scoring, with only 13 points coming from the bench this year.

• Junior guard Chaze Harris ranks third in the Sun Belt with 7.0 assists per game, dishing seven in each of his first two outings.

•  Three of South Alabama's six transfers—Olsen, Law, and Harris—made immediate impacts in the opener at Toledo, combining for 51 points in the 76–74 win.

• Saturday's contest is the Jaguars' final home game until Dec. 14 vs. North Texas. South Alabama will travel roughly 3,900 miles over the next month with stops at Jacksonville State (Nov. 19), UAB (Nov. 21), UTSA (Nov. 30), and East Tennessee State (Dec. 2).

• In eight seasons under Richie Riley, South Alabama has compiled an 86–31 home record inside the Mitchell Center, including a 13–4 mark last year.
