MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Women's Tennis will begin competition at the ITA Southern Regionals on Monday at Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Ala. Auburn is hosting the tournament for the second consecutive season.
At last year's regionals, then-freshman
Rio Maeda led the Jaguars, making it to the Round of 16 in doubles and the Round of 32 in singles.
The two singles finalists and the doubles champions will earn bids to the NCAA Singles Championship and NCAA Doubles Championship, respectively. The events are scheduled for Nov. 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
Competition will begin on Monday with both qualifying rounds of singles and the opening round of doubles. The first and second rounds of main draw singles are set for Tuesday, as well as the second and consolation rounds of doubles.
On Wednesday, both singles and doubles will compete in their respective Round of 16, and doubles will move on to the quarterfinals. Things will narrow down further on Thursday, as singles will compete in the quarterfinals and doubles will compete in the semifinals.
The doubles finals are set for Friday, as well as the singles semifinals, finals and 3/4 playoff.
