MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Men's Tennis head coach Nick Brochu has announced
the team's schedule for the 2024-25 season.
The schedule is broken down into fall and spring competition, with the fall season kickoff on Friday, Sept. 27 at the Southern Miss Invitational. After the Southern Miss Invitational, the Jaguars will travel to Baton Rouge, La. for their most-important fall tournament, the ITA Regionals. USA will then compete in three more competitions throughout the duration of the fall.
"Southern Miss is going to be a good warm up, and that will help determine what needs to be fixed before we go to our most important of the fall, which is regionals," said Brochu. "Regionals is the qualifier for nationals, so that's where all the best players from the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama will be. It's definitely going to be one of the strongest tournaments this fall."
After the fall season ends in early November, the Jags will pick up competition again and the end of January when they travel to Ole Miss to open the spring season. South Alabama will then play four-straight, in-state rivals in Samford, UAB, Alabama State and Jacksonville State. The match against Alabama State will serve as the home opener for USA.
The Jags will also make a road trip to Florida where Miami and Florida Atlantic with both be waiting in early March. That will serve as the final tune-up before Sun Belt Conference play starts, and South will open league play with a road swing at Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern. Troy will serve as USA's first conference home match on Saturday, March 22.
The 2025 regular season will close on April 13 when the Jags host Georgia Southern on senior day. South will then head to the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Rome, Ga. April 18-20.
South Alabama welcomes back four returners in
Juan Accossatto,
Braden Hannig,
Javier Montoya and
Harold van Raemdonck this season. The team also welcomes in newcomer Victor Frumholz who transferred from France.
"It's exciting that we get to see Victor, who is our new player," Brochu added. "He is a little older and more mature than the average freshman, so it will be interesting to see how he does. He's been playing well in practice. Harold will also have his first fall with us, and fall has a different feel because you don't play as a team you play as an individual. But Harold has been very impressive and very sold for us. I'm excited to see how the team does this fall."
