NOTES
Â
– South Alabama has scored 135 points over its last two games against Northwestern State (87) and App State (48). That is the most over a two-game span in school history, and the most over a two-game span by any Sun Belt Conference school in the league's history.
Â
– Saturday's matchup at LSU will be the first against a Power 4 opponent for USA since beating Oklahoma State in 2023. The Jaguars invaded Stillwater last year and came away with a dominant, 33-7 victory.
Â
– True freshman running back
Fluff Bothwell is on a tear for the Jaguars, serving as the team's leading rusher with 359 yards and six touchdowns. Bothwell has scored two touchdowns in each of the Jags' last-two outings. He currently ranks 30th nationally in rushing yards, but first among all freshmen nationally. Bothwell's six touchdowns rank 11th in the country and first among all freshmen nationally.
Â
– South Alabama quarterback
Gio Lopez is getting it done with his arm and his legs as the redshirt freshman has thrown for 843 yards while rushing for an additional 171. Lopez has thrown for nine touchdowns and added two on the ground. He is currently eighth in the country in total offense yards per game at 337.3.
Â
– South Alabama quarterbacks have yet to throw an interception this season. The Jaguars are one of just 14 teams nationally that have not turned the ball over through the air.
