MOBILE, Ala. | Coming off a tournament victory during the opening week of play, South Alabama women's Golf will look to carry that momentum this week when it competes at the UAB Hoover Invite hosted by the Blazers at the Hoover Country Club.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will feature 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday with each day beginning with a shotgun start on the par 72, 6,101-yard course. Live scoring link for each round will be available on USAJaguars.com.
Scheduled to compete for the Jaguars at the tournament are
Malia Uyeshiro,
Mercedes Aldana,
Anna Behnsen,
Katharina Schroll and
Laura Burch.
This lineup led the Jaguar women to their first tournament win since the 2022-23 season. South Alabama led for much of the tournament and finished with a three-round 876 (294-293-289), the ninth lowest score at a tournament in program history.
Uyeshiro was one of four individuals to finish inside the Top 15 at the event as she tied for second and finished with a career-low two-under 214. Aldana led the tournament after the first two rounds and placed seventh with a 219. Behnsen and Scholl tied for 13th and Burch ended the event tied for 25th.
Uyeshiro is averaging 71.3 strokes per round, and she is closely followed by Aldana (73.0) and Behnsen and Schroll (74.3), who lead the club with eight and six birdies, respectively.
Along with the Jags, the 13-team field includes Alabama, Georgia, Kennesaw State, Loyola-Chicago, North Alabama, Palm Beach State, Samford, Southern Miss, Stetson, Tennessee Tech, West Georgia and ULM, as well as tournament host UAB. The field will also include 23 players playing as individuals, including South Alabama's Grace Sutter and
Flavia Tamburlini.
