LOUISVILLE | The South Alabama softball program continued to excel in the classroom as 14Â student-athletes from the 2024 roster were named All-America Scholar Athlete by the Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), during the 2023-24 academic year as announced by the organization.
Among the 2,573 Division I honorees representing South Alabama on the list are
Brooklynn Bockhaus,
Olivia Branstetter,
Mackenzie Brasher,
Marlayna Capaldi,
Odalys Cordova,
Rachel Everett,
Caitlyn Gavin,
Olivia Lackie,
Sidney Lee,
Molly Pitts,
Gracie Tentinger,Â
Bailey Welch,
Sasha Willems and
Amity White.
The selection marked the fourth for Welch to the list, while it was the third for Brasher, Everett and Lackie. The selection was the second for Bockhaus, Capaldi and Willems.
The individual award is given to student-athletes that acquire a 3.5 grade-point average or higher during said academic year. Â USA has had at least seven honorees in each season of its existence since the inaugural 2007 campaign and a total of 151 student-athletes at South Alabama have earned the honor under head coach
Becky Clark. Â
This past spring, South Alabama earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, the program's sixth appearance.
