NEW ORLEANS, La. -Â The Jags succumbed to voodoo early and were unable to gain any traction to stay in the game, losing in seven, 13-3.
Ethan Melton knocked a solo home run in the top of the second to make it a 2-1 ballgame, but the Privateers scored five in the bottom of the frame to make it 7-1.Â
Strong showings on the mound from relievers
John Gillis and
Eric Lin gave three innings of clean ball. Gillis only gave up a walk while striking out three in his 2.0 innings, and Lin struck out the side in the fifth.
UNO earned six more runs in the sixth to qualify for the run-rule, which went into effect after the Jaguars went down in order in the top of the seventh.
