LINCOLN, Neb. - The Jaguars struggled to find their offense throughout the game and couldn't consistently hold off the Cornhusker offense in the 13-2 loss.
After a no-call bunt attempt that would have ended the second inning, the Huskers scored two runs to get on the board first. Nebraska then turned around in the third to score another two runs with two outs. Starter Cam Hill needed to work out of another jam in the fourth but not before two more runs scored.
The USA offense didn't have a response to the Huskers bats until the fifth when a Brennan Holt double set him up to score off a JG Bell single. The Huskers took that one back with a squeeze play the next inning, then tagged another three in the seventh. Robbie Petracci smacked a leadoff homer for his second of the season in the eighth inning, and Nebraska ended their afternoon with three more runs in the bottom of the inning.
Winning Pitcher: Brett Sears (2-0)
Losing Pitcher: Cam Hill (2-1)

Overall thoughts: It was the second, third, fourth inning(s). You know, I thought we I thought Cam made a pitch; would've got us off the field, would have been a 0-0 ball game through two. They didn't call the check swing. To me, He clearly went around but they didn't call it and then next pitch he got a two RBI single up the middle. So that they got three two-out hits in a row, second, third, and fourth inning to go up six to nothing. And you know, we're going into the fifth, sixth inning, we're still right there, and then the sixth kind of got a little bit sideways and I give them credit, they swung the bats well. We had some guys in two-strike counts; they got a bunch of two strike hits today. We need to be better putting guys away, but Cam competed and it just wasn't our day today. We had some decent at bats. Their guy did a great job. He was as advertised he had really good numbers and doubled and tripled up his changeup up to 93 and had two different breaking balls. He was good, that's a guy we're gonna have to beat moving forward. We got to match up and you know that's how the day went. We played error free baseball and competed and, you know, the game is cruel. Today wasn't our day.
