Series Preview: Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. - South Alabama prepares for their first road test of the season with a weekend series facing the University of Nebraska.

The Jags' first time facing them was last season when the Cornhuskers played at Stanky Field and won all three games. They went on to finish the season 33-23-1 with a 15-9 record in Big Ten play. Nebraska fell to the top seed Maryland in the Big Ten Conference Tournament Semifinals.

This season, Nebraska is 7-3 on the season with all 10 games being played on the road. Opening weekend was spent at the Shriners Children's College Showdown in Arlington where they went 1-2 before a 3-1 series at Grand Canyon and a sweep of College of Charleston.

South's three game series begins Friday March 8, at 4 p.m., with game two Saturday at 2 p.m., and the final game slated for 12 p.m. on Sunday. Games will be available to listen to on Sports Talk 99.5 or to watch through a subscription of Big Ten+.

CARDIAC KIDS
In the span of one week, South survived two extra-innings games against different opponents, outlasting Nicholls State in a midweek, 21-run shootout. The game was sent to extras through ninth inning heroics to load the bases and earn two runs with two outs, before again loading the bases in the 10th and scoring the game winner off a strike three wild pitch. The Jags again fell behind in the series finale against UNC-Wilmington, 4-3 until a leadoff home run from Will Turner made sure the game kept going. South loaded the bases again and an errant ball struck Joseph Sullivan, forcing Borges to home plate.
