Senior Journals: One more time around the bases with Odalys Cordova

Each Monday throughout the season, one of our 2024 seniors will give fans a view through their eyes as they recap the previous week. On tap this week is second baseman Odalys Cordova.

Hi guys, I'm Odalys Cordova and I'm a redshirt senior infielder from Orlando, Florida. This week we have a short bus ride and we are traveling to Tuscaloosa for Alabama's invitational tournament.

Monday
Today is our off day and I woke up, made myself breakfast and went to the pool to tan with all my teammates. Later in the day, I had a massage and after, I hit on the field off the machine.

Tuesday
I slept in a little, made breakfast and got ready for hitting practice. After hitting, I went to dog sit Ollie (Marlayna Capaldi's puppy) for an hour before my weight group. Then I went to weights and after I made myself pasta for dinner, drank a protein shake and stayed home the rest of the day.

Wednesday
I woke up early, made breakfast and went to wash my car because there are no dirty cars around here. Then I went back home, did a little bit of homework and went to hit extra off the machine with Brooklyn (Bockhaus) before practice. After practice I went and ordered a large pizza from Papa Johns and went home.

Thursday
Travel day!!!! I slept in, made myself breakfast and went to lifts. After lifts, I went to my hitting group and had to pack up our equipment for the bus. I went home really quick to change and came back to the field to get ready to leave for in Tuscaloosa.

Friday
GAME DAYYYYY! We woke up in our hotel room to a message from Coach (Becky) Clark saying we're only going to play one game at 5:30 p.m. because of weather. During all that free time we had in the morning, we went to hit for an hour at Alabama's facility. We then went to get lunch at Chick Fil A and got our orders to go and ate on the bus. We went back to the hotel, did a short recovery and got ready for our game. We ended up falling short to Northern Iowa, but we have another chance at them tomorrow.

Saturday
Two games today, Northern Iowa and Bama! I woke up, ate breakfast and headed to the field. We came back and run-ruled Northern Iowa before a quick turnaround to play Bama for the second game. This was a huge win for us as we dug in and beat Alabama 2-0. It was also Coach Clark's 700th career win. We all celebrated later in the hotel at dinner as she got everyone a big cake.

Sunday
Another big game for us in the morning against Arizona, another Top 25 opponent. It was a hard fought 12-inning game that ended up in a tie due to Arizona having flights. After the game, we got our lunch from Jason's Deli and got showers at Alabama's volleyball locker room. Then we head back to Mobile after playing a really good tournament this weekend and showing a lot of grit. I hope y'all enjoyed my recap of the weekend.
