NEW ORLEANS– After a dominating performance in the opening weekend of the outdoor competition last week, Francois Prinsloo was named Sun Belt Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Prinsloo had a phenomenal start to his senior season, securing two first-place finishes and one second-place at the South Alabama Invitational. On Day One of the South Alabama Invitational, he launched a throw of 56.53 meters (185 feet 5 inches) to take second place in the competition. On day two, Prinsloo turned in two other commanding performances, securing first place in the discus with a monstrous throw of 61.19 meters to log the second-highest mark in the entire country in week one. He would also record a 16.02-meter toss in the shot put to take first place.
