BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The South Alabama Track and Field program wrapped up an action-packed afternoon Sunday at the South Alabama Invitational. Sebastian Loschner broke the indoor school record in the shot put for the third time this season, and the Jaguars secured the seven event wins.
In the Field
Sebastian Loschner continued his stellar indoor season, breaking the school record in the shot put for the third time this year, logging a throw of 17.66 meters (57 feet 11 ¼ inches) to take first place in the event. Samuel Mika took fifth place in the shot put with a new personal record toss of 16.10 meters (52 feet 10 inches).
Bodine Degli-Umberti won the weight throw for the second time this year with a throw of 18.85 meters (61 feet 10 1/4 inches). She also launched a throw of 14.73 meters (48 feet 4 inches) in the shot put to earn second place.
Dorian Curry won the high jump for the second time this year and the ninth time in his South Alabama career. Curry recorded a monstrous jump of 2.11 meters (6 feet 11 inches) to outlast the rest of his competitors.
Kyle Rademeyer claimed his third first-place finish of the indoor season, posting a mammoth jump of 5.55 meters (18 feet 2 ½ inches). Rademeyer is fifth in the country in the NCAA Division l Track and Field rankings.
The Jaguars dominated the women's pole vault, taking two of the top three spots in the competition. Alexis Gratia won the pole vault, clearing a mark of 3.95 meters (12 feet 11 ½ inches) to secure first place in the event and second in the all-time Jaguar record books. Ina Edstrom captured second in the pole vault with a 3.80 meters (12 feet 5 ½ inches) earning second place.
Iyana Johnson clinched her second first-place finish in the triple jump this indoor season. Johnson leaped to a monstrous mark of 12.11 meters (39 feet 8 ¾ inches) to beat all of her other competitors by nearly five inches. Johnson also grabbed a sixth-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 17.17 meters (56 feet 4 inches) to earn a new personal record.
On the Track
South Alabama walked away with two impressive finishes in the 60-meter and 60-meter hurdles. Latiana Acker had a blazing performance in the 60 meters, running to a time of 7.59 to take third place in the competition and tie the indoor school record in the event. Kendal White captured a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.138 to earn fourth place.
Leading the way for the Jaguars in the distance was Xavier Johnson. Johnson ran a blistering time of 14:39.33 to secure first place, beating the rest of her competitors by nearly six seconds.
Clervie Chagot destroyed her personal record in the women's 5000 meters by nearly 20 seconds, posting a third-place finish with a time of 18:12.34.
Rachel Hunter earned a new personal record in the women's 400 meters, bolting to a time of 57.05 to secure fourth place in the competition.
Charleen Elizondo logged a time of 5:08.75 to take second place in the women's mile, missing out on her first event win of the season by only three seconds.

South Alabama will return to the Birmingham Crossplex for the third time this indoor season as they gear up for the Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships on Monday, Feb. 19, and Tuesday, Feb.20.
