NEW ORLEANS, La. – South Alabama's Bodine Degli-Umberti has been named the Sun Belt Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Degli-Umberti demolished the indoor school record in the weight throw at the Jack Johnson Classic last weekend with a throw of 20.21 meters (66 feet 3 ¾ inches). This mark smashed the previous record of 19.44 meters (63 feet 9 ½ inches). She would also go on to earn a new season-best in the shot put with a mark of 15.08 meters (49 feet 5 ¾ inches) to take second place in the competition.
She has now picked up a Top-10 finish in every event she's competed in during the indoor season.
Her performance in the weight throw ranked ninth in the South Region over the weekend and she now ranks 34th in the NCAA Division l rankings in the event.
