– After a three-game home swing that included both a full and partial bye week, South Alabama will play its first road game since Saturday, Oct. 5 when the Jaguars visited Arkansas State. The Jaguars opened the season with four of their first-six games on the road.

– South Alabama and Louisiana are two of the top teams in the Sun Belt Conference in total offense and scoring offense. The Ragin' Cajuns lead the SBC in total offense at 457.1 yards per game while the Jags are close behind at 455.1. The Jaguars lead the league, scoring an average of 35.6 while Louisiana ranks third scoring 35.2 per game.

Louisiana enters Saturday's game with an 8-1 record overall and a perfect, 5-0 record in Sun Belt Conference play. The Ragin' Cajuns are coached by Michael Desormeaux, who is in his third season as head coach and holds a record of 21-15. Ben Wooldridge quarterbacks the Cajuns and has thrown for 2,301 yards and 17 touchdowns on the season. His primary receiving target is tight end Terrance Carter with 36 catches for 558 yards and four scores. Bill Davis leads the rushing attack with 585 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, K.C. Ossai leads the team with 76 tackles.

Louisiana owns a 9-3 lead in the series between the Jaguars and Ragin' Cajuns. The Cajuns visited Mobile last season and came away victorious by a score of 33-20. In their last visit to Lafayette, the Jags took down Louisiana on a last-second field goal to win, 20-17.
