MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's tennis head coach Nick Brochu announced Wednesday the addition of transfer Joaquim Almeida to the Jaguar roster. Almeida comes to South Alabama after two seasons at Virginia Commonwealth University.
In his sophomore season, Almeida went 18-17 overall, posting a 10-11 record in dual match action. He spent the majority of the 2023 season playing at number five, going 7-8. He also went 2-0 from number three, 0-1 from number four and 1-2 from number six.
In doubles, Almeida posted a 16-4 doubles record in dual matches, going 15-3 with partner Romain Gales at number three.
As a freshman, Almeida logged a 11-6 singles record and 13-13 doubles record and finished the season winning eight consecutive singles matches.
Almeida, a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was the vice champion of the G3 Bahia juniors cup, J2 Neuquen doubles and J4 Santiago doubles.
