Jaguars sit with second-best record in the league

MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama welcomes in-state rival Troy this weekend for its final home series of the regular season. Game one of the series is set to get underway Thursday at Jaguar Field with first pitch set for 6 p.m. Game two is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. with the series finale set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.

South Alabama (35-13, 17-4 SBC) enters the weekend series with the second-best record in the league this spring, just two games back of Louisiana. Troy (33-15-1, 14-6-1) is in fourth in the SBC in the standings entering the final weekend of league play.

Prior to Saturday's series finale, South Alabama will honor its seniors – Emma Kropp, Jenna Hardy, Victoria Ortiz, Mackenzie Brasher and Meredith Keel.

•    Ortiz's current 25-game reached base streak is one shy of tying Emily Messer (26, 2016) for third-longest streak and two games shy of matching Brittany Fowler (27, 2013) for second and the longest single-season streak
•    Olivia Lackie (31) is one shutout shy of surpassing former Jag Devin Brown (2015-18) to become the all-time leader in the category
•    Lackie (12) is also one shutout setting the single-season shut out mark, and 19 strikeouts from joining Hanna Campbell (666, 2011-14) for third in career strikeouts
•    Hardy is three strikeouts from reaching the 300-strikeout plateau
•    As a staff, South is tied with Clemson for seventh in the NCAA in shutouts (18), eighth in ERA (1.61), 12th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.87) and 20th in strikeouts (329), and lead the Sun Belt in ERA and opponent batting average (.198)
