JACKSONVILLE, Fla. | Colette Uys and
Bodine Degli-Umberti wrapped up their 2023 season at the NCAA East Preliminaries on Thursday.
Uys just missed qualifying for NCAA Outdoors, finishing 13th after a throw of 16.59 meters (54-05.25) in the shot put. She fell just behind Ana Da Silva of Georgia who finished 12th at 16.60 meters (54-05.50). She also finished 21st in the hammer throw of 58.81 meters (192-11), finishing just behind Paola Bueno of Liberty for a spot in the top 20. Meanwhile, Degli-Umberti finished 39th with a throw of 55.75 meters (182-11) in the event.
The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held June 7-June 10 in Austin on the campus of the University of Texas. The NCAA East Preliminaries will continue Friday at the University of North Florida with
Sebastian Loschner and
Francois Prinsloo competing in the men's discus at 1 pm (ET).
Kirami Yego will look to qualify for his second competition, running the 5000-meters at 8:10 pm (ET), while
Dorian Curry will compete in the high jump at 2:30 pm (ET).
