MOBILE, Ala. | Ten student-athletes received bids to NCAA East Preliminaries scheduled for next week in Jacksonville (Fla.) based on their performances during the 2023 outdoor track and field season.
The meet will be held May 24-27 on the campus of the University of North Florida.
On the women's side, a pair of Sun Belt Conference champions will continue their season led by
Kiara Risher in the high jump with a mark of 1.79 meters. The mark is the 17th-best in the region. She will be joined by a pair of throwers who will each compete in three different events.
Bodine Degli-Umberti, the Sun Belt Conference champion in the discus, has the 23rd-best mark in the competition with a distance of 53.83 meters. She will also compete in the shot put (15.52 meters / 40th) and hammer (62.09 meters / 19th).
She will be joined by teammate
Colette Uys in the shot put (16.86 meters / 15th), the discus (53.35 meters / 27th), and hammer (59.99 meters / 34th).
On the men's side, two-time Sun Belt Conference champion and Track Performer of the Year,
Kirami Yego will compete for the medal stand in a pair of events. He has the sixth-best time in the 5000-meters at 13:34.50 and fourth-best in the 10,000 meters at 28:22.94. He will be joined by
Teagan Flanagan in the 10,000 with the 25th-best time at 28:59.69. They will be joined on the track by
Kendal White in the 400-meter hurdles with the 45th-best time at 51.76 seconds.
Four different student-athletes will compete in field competitions including returning All-American
Kyle Rademeyer in the pole vault with the second-best height in the region at 5.82 meters.
Francois Prinsloo, the Sun Belt Conference champion in the discus, will compete for the medal stand in the event with the second-best throw in the region at 62.53 meters. Rounding out the event for the Jags will be
Dorian Curry in the high jump (2.15 meters / 14th) and
Sebastian Loschner in the discus (54.59 meters / 39th).
